Local Tipples
As part of our efforts to promote Kent products we have turned our attention to local producers of alcoholic beverages.
Obviously it never occurred to us that there may be some free samples, or tastings or anything of that nature. No, it never crossed our minds, not once! Honest!!!
Anyway, moving swiftly on, what local drinks have you tried? What do you recommend as a good cheese and drink combination?
Any good local wines that would go with Sharpham perhaps? Or a nice Kentish Cider to go with Ashmore Farmhouse Cheese? Or maybe you see ale and cheese as the perfect partners?
Let us know your thoughts!
what about some more of that lovely cider you were giving out for sampling your chesse?
Wait they were giving out cider in the shop and they didn't tell me??!!
This calls for an investigation!
One quick investigation later....
Tom thinks it could well have been Big Tree Cider!
Big Tree Cider is a Kent cider maker that started out from the apples of just one huge Bramley apple tree on their land in Hartley, Kent. This tree was originally part of the many orchards in this area and is over 100 years old.
Nowadays the cider is produced by using a variety of trees from two orchards in the local area. They have become more expert at blending these various flavours and still use the apples from their old faithful Bramley tree that was there at the very beginning. Our blend consists of, among others, Braeburn, Royal Gala, Jupiter, Cox and Kentish Pippin.
Form more information visit their web site (and see where I blatently pinched the above information from!!)
So anyone else got a prefered tipple?
